Buyer's journey

How SaaS Buyers Find, Evaluate and Purchase Software Licences

A stage-by-stage walkthrough of a licensing or white-label purchase on LicenseSaaS — from the first search to a rebranded launch — with the questions to ask at each step.

The five stages of a licensing purchase

    1. Stage 1

      Discover licensable products

Buyers start with a use case, not a brand. Browse by category, industry, deal type or licence model to shortlist SaaS, AI and digital products that can be licensed, resold or rebranded.

    2. Stage 2

      Evaluate the listing in full

Every field a seller submits is shown on the product page: licensing terms, white-label scope, tech stack, hosting, revenue detail and support commitments. Compare licence types before you shortlist, and do your own due diligence — LicenseSaaS verifies nothing.

    3. Stage 3

      Contact the seller directly

Send an inquiry or open a message thread with the seller. There are no filters and no gatekeeping — ask about source code access, exclusivity, territory, customer data, migration effort and roadmap ownership.

    4. Stage 4

      Negotiate terms and price

Make an offer, counter, and agree the commercial shape of the deal: upfront fee, recurring licence fee, revenue share, minimum term, renewal rights and what happens if either side walks away. Deals close between the two parties — LicenseSaaS never takes a success fee.

    5. Stage 5

      Transfer, rebrand and launch

Agree the handover: repositories or hosted access, domain and branding swap, documentation, onboarding support and a support window. Then launch the product under your own brand and start selling.

    Buyer due diligence checklist

    • What exactly is licensed — code, hosted access, brand, or all three?
    • Is the licence exclusive, territory-limited or capped by seats or customers?
    • Who owns the customer relationship, billing and customer data?
    • What are the upfront, recurring and revenue-share components?
    • What is the tech stack, hosting cost and realistic maintenance burden?
    • What support, documentation and onboarding is included, and for how long?
    • Who controls the roadmap and future updates after the deal closes?
    • What are the renewal, termination and transfer conditions?

    LicenseSaaS does not verify listings

We connect buyers and sellers and nothing more. Seller identities, revenue claims and product capabilities are unverified, so every stage above assumes you run your own due diligence before money moves.
